Destruction of forest property by federal firefighters could entitle owner to just compensation.
In 2012, a group of forest landowners sought just compensation under the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution for the destruction of their private timber lands by federal firefighters who lit fires on the private property in an apparent effort to contain a wildfire that had started on government property.
