Cooperative Extension Service Turns 100

Technology has changed the delivery of information, but the effective educational role of Extension has remained unchanged since 1914.
Forestry programs in the past focused on techniques for planting, timber stand improvement activities, and harvesting practices. Those programs still are relevant today. As we experience a change in the demographics of the forestland ownership in 2014, today’s audience is likely to include owners who have no experience working on the land. Extension is a great place for these new owners to learn how to get started in forestry.
